Sensory Room

 

Pitt Academy has a sensory room with items that were funded by the Crusade for Children and UPS. The sensory room is an area where students can explore and develop their senses and their skills.  The room has lights, interactive equipment, a ball pit, a light and soundboard, bean bags, weighted blankets, and sight/sound/texture boards.  This room is therapeutic for children with sensory processing disorders.

Life Skills Kitchen

Crusade for Children, Kosair Charities and Home Depot graciously donated funding towards an instructional kitchen for our students to practice planning and preparing meals and learning kitchen safety.

Life Skills Apartment

Crusade for Children, Kosair Charities and Home Depot graciously donated funding towards the building/renovation of an apartment space and bathroom to extend upon the classroom teaching to involve practical application of daily living skills and understanding.

Kosair Charities Exercise Facility

 

Kosair Charities has funded an exercise facility for the students of Pitt Academy. This space is used to teach students proper ways to exercise, use equipment, increase mobility, work on motor skills, endurance, strength, coordination, balance, and self-confidence. Within the space are: treadmills, exercise bikes, ellipticals, free-weights, and exercise balls. This room is used during student’s physical education classes, life skills instruction and by our therapy partners.
