Letter From Our Principal
Dear Community Member,
We all have reasons for doing what we do, whether it’s becoming a parent, going to the movies, or just having another piece of cake. Without reasons, we wouldn’t get much accomplished. Here, at Pitt Academy, we currently have 78 reasons why we do what we do: we teach students with special needs. That’s a good thing!
Pitt Academy offers students with special needs a variety of opportunities to learn and grow. The teachers at Pitt plan for student benefits to reach beyond the classroom. Pitt Academy’s mission statement reminds us that there are youth whose daily well-being depends upon the kinship and sense of belonging that are fundamental in our teachings.
Implied in this vision of individuals developing from youth to adulthood and becoming productive, responsible community members, is our governing principle that emphasizes learning as a life-long and creative process. At Pitt Academy, learning is a dynamic, ongoing process that integrates a curriculum designed to meet the special needs students’ physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs with developmentally-appropriate programs.
Pitt Academy recognizes the interconnectedness of school, home and work. We strive to provide our students with opportunities to learn and apply the skills that will enable them to go beyond the classroom to become productive, responsible citizens of our community. We hope you will consider supporting our important learning environment and goals so that we may continue offering opportunities for many students with special needs.
Hopefully, you now have a good reason or two to financially support Pitt Academy.
